When I went to the 2011 Progressive International Motorcycle Show held in New York at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, I had the opportunity to sit on the Greg Tracy’s #555 Ducati Multistrada 1200 S Pikes Peak race bike. It’s the actual motorcycle that won the 2010 “Race to the Clouds.” All I can say is what a looker it is with its stunning Ducati Corse paint scheme.
While at the show, I suggested to the Ducati North America representatives to produce this super cool color combo as a limited special edition, because I thought Ducati fans and potential buyers would love a Pikes Peak race replica version of the Multistrada 1200 S. Surprisingly, they balked at the idea, and I replied “I bet it would sell like hotcakes if they actually made it.” So I emailed Ducati Spa the suggestion, and low and behold 7 months later, there she was all decked out in the sexy Ducati Corse color scheme. I took mine in Diamond Black!
In Colorado around mid March of 2011, Ducati unveiled the stunning Multistrada 1200 S Pikes Peak for a 2012 release celebrating the famous victory in the 2010 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb race “Race to the Clouds.”
This Special Edition underlines the race-bred heritage that exists deep inside every Ducati and follows a massive first year success for the award-winning Multistrada 1200, which set a new industry benchmark in motorcycle technology with the four-bikes-in-one concept.
The Multistrada 1200 S Pikes Peak is specially dressed in stunning replica Ducati Corse-style paint scheme with passenger foot-peg hangers and engine guard anodized in black finish and sport red pin-striping on the wheels, and a race-derived low screen in carbon fiber. A Ducati Performance carbon fiber front mudguard, and custom made seat detailed with red stitching complete an enhanced specification well worthy of a race-winning replica.
