Back In Black. After years of requesting a cooler looking GS directly to BMW of North America, and posting my requests on a popular adventure motorcycle forum for a “triple black” all-blacked out bike, as with the Limited Edition R 1200 C Stiletto street-fighter which I also mocked up and requested a black non-chromed version of the boxster cruiser. Well finally BMW Motorrad has delivered a stylish GS adventure motorcycle. With a modern twist to their old school all-black color schemes of their classic motorcycles of years past.
There are no changes to the bike besides for the color blocking. The special edition features include: Sapphire Black Metallic Body Color, Black Cross Spoke Wheels, Special Asphalt Grey Metallic Swing Arm, Rear Frame and Valve Covers, Black Front Fork and Engine, Black Seat with Embroidered “GS” logo. Also Included is the Premium Package Equipment: Enduro ESA (Electronic Suspension Adjustment), Heated Grips, On-Board Computer, Hand Protection, Integral ABS, and Saddle Bag Mounts.
But with that said, I personally have to thank BMW Motorrad USA for listing to their fans and customers, because the big GS Adventure styling is pretty much on point and the newer F800 has stepped up with a more aggressive vibe for the GS line-up.
BMW’s top selling motorcycle the standard R 1200 GS was really lacking in the style department, and I feel they finally have achieved bringing the original 1980’s GS coolness back to their enduro bikes. Yes you can have utilitarian functionality all wrapped up in one sexy package.
With the high performance of the HP2, and the modern-retro styling of the 30th Anniversary model and now the badass Triple Black – Special Edition, lets see what the future GS’s can evolve into.
